FIO TABLE

Delhi / 2024 / Area 1700 sq. ft.

Stepping into The Fio Table feels like entering an intimate Mediterranean home, where time slows and conversations unfold. Designed by Project 810, this 1,700 sq ft restaurant in Gurugram reimagines communal dining through a warm European lens inspired by Spain, Italy, Greece and Turkey.

The elongated 60 ft × 30 ft site is bathed in natural light through floor-to-ceiling glazing on two sides, visually connecting the interiors to MG Road. Structural columns punctuate the floor plate, dividing the space into two zones, while a service access at the rear connects to the lobby and washrooms.

Entry is from the shorter glazed elevation, marked by plush drapes that create a moment of discovery. As the curtains are drawn back, the layered interior is gradually revealed, allowing the space to shift effortlessly from sunlit afternoons to intimate, candlelit evenings.

The bar along the back elevation is conceived as a familiar, home-like element. Crafted in solid oak, it features a stepped marble shelf with integrated lighting that highlights bottles as sculptural objects. A louvered wooden cabinet above emits a warm glow, while the textured concrete bar front transitions into low seating, forming a relaxed lounge zone.

A long community table anchors the heart of the restaurant, reinforcing the ethos of family-style dining and shared togetherness. Intimate seating along the glazed edges offers quieter moments while remaining visually connected to the central dining space and the street beyond.

The kitchen façade is articulated using fluted glass and raw MS framework, offering controlled glimpses into the culinary process and daily rhythms of the kitchen. This semi-transparency allows the energy of cooking to subtly animate the dining space, adding movement and depth without overpowering the overall dining experience.

Chiselled plaster walls recall sun-baked Mediterranean homes, offset by a forest-green ceiling and grounded by grey concrete tile flooring that lends a calm base. Wooden tabletops in light chocolate oak, layered with wool and jute rugs and plush green drapes, add warmth, tactile richness and a sense of lived-in softness throughout the space.

Handmade bamboo and linen pendant lights cast a soft, diffused glow, while integrated bar lighting adds depth and drama as evening sets in. Layered textiles and abundant greenery soften the architecture, allowing The Fio Table to evolve through the day into a warm, intimate setting—where shared meals, conversation and togetherness remain central.
