Woven together like soft tapestry – Project 810’s rendition of Vidhi Singhania’s textile store is an exercise of restraint in luxury, presented in a contemporary setting. Spanning over 4000 sq.ft. of sun kissed spaces, the store for this veteran designer showcases a range of bespoke offerings with warmth and flair.
The space is an extension of the designer’s persona, intended to showcase the exquisite repertoire of the brand, while also feeling like a welcoming home to familiar and new clientele. A layered palette with neutral tones of off-whites and textured creams; and highlights of brass, ochre walls and walnut wood, weave a crafted story of contemporary elegance with age-old charm.
With careful modifications to the existing structure, a two-levelled showroom, with multiple display zones, a private office, and a stunning double-height space was brought to life. The interior design ethos was rooted in the retail experience being seamless and uncluttered, with hints of textures and visual tactility embedded in curved edges and fluid lines.
The lower floor exhibits the daily range and home decor, and the upper area is a more intimate and exclusive display of bridal wear, jewellery and the designer’s office. Services, trial rooms, storage and a check-out counter are neatly tucked into corners, designed as efficient utilities. Awash with a soft light, subtly textured cream coloured walls and smooth curves bring a visual lightness to the whole experience. Stripped away of the unessential- the retail journey begins with a series of limestone display platforms with varying heights; setting the tone for understated luxury and attention to detail. Patterned white marble flooring becomes a neutral backdrop to complement the compositions of art accents and fixed displays.
Furthermore, layered as backdrops and soft partitions, fabrics draped from brass rods bring an ephemeral tactility to the space. Beyond curated display islands, a combined system of shelves embedded within walls with a fluted limestone backdrop, fixed vitrines and wall mounted sleek brass rods are presented throughout the showroom.
Intended to showcase the best of Vidhi Singhania’s creations with an ease and comfort of viewing, customised glass vitrines for sarees and floating display consoles hold different genres of the brand’s offerings. The detailing and precision of the brass shelves complement the curves and soft edges. Low-height consoles combined with glass chests are a cohesive part of the display language.
The challenge of low-height ceilings is tackled with curved alcoves that are finished in metallic paint, slightly aglow with the warm-white lighting. Custom made pendant lights and lighting add a touch of glamour to the experience. Towards the southern wall, a dining table set up showcases a curated collection of table-linen, and also brings a home-like ambience, with the adjacent home decor section. The central element of wonder, a gracefully curved staircase gliding gently upwards is a work of art in itself. With each curve and tread custom-designed and painstakingly assembled on site, the staircase rises from a row of low sculptural platforms into a crescendo of marble treads and gold risers.
As an ode to the symphony of curves seen across the boutique, the brass balustrade curves gently and terminates in flourishes. The staircase becomes a display for mannequins and other works of art, bathed in glorious natural light from tall windows of the double-volume.
The textile designer & owner’s private section is a clean, uncluttered reflection of her keen eye for detail and appreciation of Indian art & craft. Fluted wooden legs, wooden shelves and slender brass edging create a sophisticated work/life environment, and framed Pichwais set the tone for warmth and elegance. In the search for the very essence of luxury, the tapestry of ‘Weaves’ comes across as a beautiful template to showcase the best of design and life!
